How to handle of the cavity

A cavity is a hole that, over time, may grow larger and deeper. Cavities are also called dental caries and it is necessary to get them patched if you have a cavity. The dentist will examine the teeth carefully and may take X-rays. If your dentist finds a cavity, he can repair it for you by using a special drill to first remove the rotted part of your mouth. The dentist then inserts a special material in the hole in your tooth.

Causes of the cavity
Dental cavities, or caries, are small holes in the teeth's hard surface. They are caused by bacteria that produce acid from sugar on the teeth's surface.
The bacteria form a sticky film called as plaque. Plaque acids strip minerals from your enamel, a teeth coating that is mostly composed of calcium and phosphate. This oxidation causes the enamel to have tiny holes. A cavity emerges once the acid damage extends to the dentin layer below the enamel.

Getting rid of your cavity at home
Not having enough vitamin D can make teeth more vulnerable to cavities, but we now know that this is just part of the puzzle. Specific cavity risk factors include:
  • Dry mouth or with a medical condition that limits moisture in the mouth
  • Frequent snacks of sugar foods or beverages such as soda, cereals and ice cream
  • Eat teeth-hardened foods such as chocolate and sticky foods
  • Infant eating in bed
You won't be able to get rid of it at home once a hole has entered the dentin. Before a cavity grows, the following home remedies can help prevent cavities or treat pre-cavity damaged areas of your enamel:

1. Sugar free gum.
It has been shown that the sugar-free gum with a compound called casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate reduces S. mutans even more than chewing gum that contains xylitol.

2. Brush with fluoride toothpaste.
Fluoride plays a major role in cavity prevention and enamel remineralization. Extensive research has been done to show that cavities are reduced by regularly brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste.

3. Vitamin D.
Vitamin D is important in helping the food you eat to absorb calcium and phosphate. Studies show an inverse relationship between eating foods high in vitamin D and calcium, such as yogurt, and young children's cavities. Vitamin D can be obtained from dairy products such as milk and yogurt. Vitamin D can also be obtained from the sun.

4. Avoid sugar food.
If you're eating sugar, try not to snack all day long on processed foods. Once the sugar is gone, you have an opportunity to remineralize the enamel. But if you eat sugar constantly, you don't have the chance to remineralize your teeth.

5. Licorice root.
If you're eating sugar, try not to snack all day long on processed foods. Once the sugar is gone, you have an opportunity to remineralize the enamel. But if you eat sugar constantly, you don't have the chance to remineralize your teeth.

When to see the doctor
Most dental problems arise without any discomfort or other symptoms, like deep cavities. The easiest way to catch a cavity before it gets worse is regular dental checkups. Early diagnosis means recovery that is simpler.
Treatment for the dental cavities may include:
  • Root canal. Once tooth decay enters the tooth's inner material, you may need a root canal.
  • Tooth extractions. This is the replacement of a damaged tooth.
  • Fillings. When a cavity has grown beyond the enamel, fillings are the primary treatment.
  • Fluoride treatment. Advanced fluoride treatments contain more fluoride than you can find at a pharmacy for toothpaste and mouth rinses. If there is a regular need for stronger fluoride, your dentist may give you a prescription.
  • Crowns. A crown is a custom-fitted cover or cap put over the tooth to manage severe decline.
Vitamin D, licorice lollipops, chewing gum and other home remedies on their own will not get rid of current cavities. But these techniques can prevent cavities from growing larger and prevent new ones from arriving. When best, before a cavity can form, they can help remineralize soft or damaged areas of your enamels.
