What does a filling mean?

Different types of fillings

  • Amalgam filling - For several years, amalgam fillings have been the standard, but they have fallen out of favor in recent years. Amalgam is a mixture of metal alloys that, when used to repair a cavity, are soft but harden once in place. Amalgam contains minute amounts of mercury and many people have been turned away from the substance by this. It is also a dark color, in stark contrast to the surrounding tooth, which stands out.

What's the treatment here?

Your dentists will begin by numbing the tooth and the area around them and then using either a drill, air abrasion unit or a laser to remove any decay. After treatment

It is advisable not to eat or drink until the anaesthesia has worn off if a filling has just been inserted. It can take from one to three hours to do this. For a few days after the operation, sensitivity to hot and cold beverages can occur. By the time you leave the oral surgery, composite resin is cured entirely.
